Stockland Momenta is Stockland’s first multi-level logistics facility. CRC provided full civil and structural engineering services, developing an integrated design solution suited to the complexities of multi-level warehousing in urban environments. The structural system was resolved to achieve long-span efficiency across both warehouse and hardstand areas, including spans exceeding 22 metres for flexibility in operations and vehicle manoeuvrability.
A key aspect of the structural design was the incorporation of detailed structural fire engineering analysis. This involved a critical review of the fire rating requirements, resulting in a compliant solution using a cementitious fire spray system that met code obligations, demonstrated strong performance, and provided a practical and commercially attractive outcome.
Material selection was a critical driver of the design. All primary beams throughout the warehouse utilise low embodied carbon structural steel, including XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel manufactured in Luxembourg. This required careful coordination across design, procurement, and fabrication to align structural performance with sustainability objectives.
The civil design facilitates efficient heavy vehicle movement throughout the site, integrating B-double access and a one-way traffic flow system with robust pavement and hardstand design. Water management strategies and site grading were developed to respond to operational demands while supporting the project’s broader sustainability targets.
