CRC completed the structural engineering design for two automated distribution facilities for Coles located in Oakdale Industrial Estate in Kemps Creek, NSW and Redbank, QLD. The facilities feature specialised high-bay warehouses. Both facilities are identical and incorporate a feature three-storey office and pedestrian sky bridge, large tower staircases, dock offices, truck washes, an energy complex, and other ancillary buildings serving the operational requirements for Coles distribution, with steel being the predominant construction material for all buildings.
The buildings consist of a high-bay warehouse 36m in height, which houses the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). This adjoins another high-bay warehouse approximately 26m in height. CRC designed a braced portal frame structure to resolve the challenging building height and meet the project specifications while minimising structural materials.
